Events, festivals and holidays in Chang Mai

Flower Festival takes place the first weekend in February, the festival includes competitions such as garden flower, ornamental flowers, flower parade and beauty contests.

Songkran Water Festival (Thai New Year) begins April 13 and lasts almost a week in Chiang Mai, the rest of Thailand only a few days. Songkran is the famous festival which sprays water on everyone, from young to old and even police officers get wet. No one is safe, spraying water over several days. Especially transport and accommodation can be very busy this week. Book well in advance. NOTE! Chiang Mai is a bit special they splash water almost a whole week and if not want to get wet, change your dates for your holiday in Chiang Mai.
