Attractions Pattaya

Pattaya is a large metropolitan area on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard, just a two hour drive from Bangkok. It is packed with high rise resort hotels for travelers who come to enjoy its prime location on the Gulf of Thailand and its many engrossing attractions and activities. In the past Pattaya developed a well-deserved reputation for raunchy nightlife and high octane entertainment. Today that is changing as Pattaya seeks to establish a more respectable image and build up its appeal to families and singles who are in the market for a more low key vacation experience.

Nature

Pattaya first blossomed as a tourist town in the 1960s due to its attractive geographical situation. The city borders on Pattaya Bay, a sweeping stretch of pleasant sandy beach and balmy water which is naturally sheltered from high waves. Not far off shore from the city itself, there are three groups of lovely islands to explore.

Cultural Attractions

Laem Ratchawet’s Sanctuary of Truth is an intricate all wooden temple building, celebrating the paramount virtue of truth in religion and philosophy. Wat Yanasangwararam Woramahawihan is a famous Buddhist temple of interest, as is Wat Khao Phra Bat with an 18 meter tall Buddha. The Thepprasit night market, Pattaya’s largest is open every weekend for goods from the mundane to the exotic, such as fried scorpions.
