Beaches Koh Chang

Koh Chang is a very special area of Thailand that has much to offer the vacation traveler – natural beauty, still unspoiled surroundings, exciting activities and clean, quiet white sand beaches. Koh Chang is on the verge of taking off in popularity in a big way, but for now it provides an old style relaxing Thai beach experience.

Tha Nam Beach

Tha Nam is nicknamed “Lonely Beach” because of the seclusion it once offered. A backpacker’s haven, Tha Nam is a party beach in the evening, generally full of young singles and couples dancing and enjoying loud music through the night. It’s a great place for the footloose, energetic traveler. By day, Lonely Beach is a nice spot to swim or sunbathe on the soft white sand.

Bailan

Bailan is a low key beach, 15 minutes’ walk from Tha Nam, suitable for people who prefer to enjoy the latest best-selling novel rather than the latest rock music. Set on a small bay of shallow water, the sandy beach is partially flanked by mangrove trees.

Bang Bao Beach

Bang Bao is a beach on a cove just outside of a traditional Thai fishing village. The main attraction is water sports other than swimming here. Check out the scuba diving center, or try your hand at snorkeling or fishing in the calm waters.

Than Mayom

For an example of a charmingly undeveloped Thai beach, pay a visit to Than Mayom. There are few tourist amenities here and the shore is rocky, lapped by water that is somewhat muddy. However, this goes hand in hand with a secluded and tranquil air. Than Mayom is an excellent place to sit back and enjoy the view and the amazing sunsets.

Khlong Prao

Khlong Prao’s extensive expanse of golden sandy beach, fringed with coconut palms, is divided in two by a natural estuary. The gently sloping beach and calm water are safe for children at play. Be sure to admire the breathtaking view.

Kai Bae

Kai Bae has become an upscale resort area, with a sandy beach edged by palm trees. It is a great place for families or couples to enjoy the beach life, or to rent canoes, sea kayaks or diving gear to explore the marine area.
